Sir
Sub. Withdrawal of case against Sri Lankan Tamil refugees
I, the undersigned, is the representative of PLOTE. group of Tamil liberation movement.I I wish to bring the following for your kind perusal and necessary action.
At the outset I Wish to thank you very much for singning Indo -srilankan agreement recently. This historic agreement has opened new Insights in international relations. For us, Sri Lankan Tamils,
It this return of peace to the island return to normalcy of life, a life free from the butchery of Sri Lankan army, a life free from uncertainties,a life free from death inlife and and a life free from death itself. We can now look forward to a life with dignity,Self respect and peace. The sole credit gost to you, honorable sir.
Most of the Sri Lankan refugees in India are returning to Sri Lanka. As long as Indian peace keeping force is in Sri Lanka, we Sri Lankan Tamil refugees would feel safe with them. Some of the refugees who wish to return to the island are handicapped which certain cases foistered on them. Some of the refugees have been arrested long back on account of having invalid and false documents. Some of them are in Tihar Jail and some taken out on bail.
These refugees had landed in India for their survival and had been duped by certain travel agencies with the promise of providing them the necessary documents. With the hope of going to other countries, they had given all their savings to these agencies and instead landed in jail. some of them who have managed to come out on bail had borrowed money from their friends and relatives.
with the singing of the agreement, with a new dawn before them, to peace , they wish to return to Sri Lanka. But they are unable to because of the court cases pending.
On behalf of our organisation. ,I request your esteemed self to look. Into the matter with Personal interest and on humanitarian grounds. I request you to instruct the concerned authorities to withdraw cases against the refugees who have been arrested and earlier and release some of them who are still languishing in Tihar jail.
Thanking you. Yours faithfully
